Personal Work
While being a very busy designer, I also make a lot of art in my personal time. These range from paintings, sketchbook drawings, art from my college days, and projects for friends and family.
T-Shirt Design for Calling All Horse Girls
Calling All Horse Girls is a biannual independent magazine that caters to the modern equestrian. They are known for their inclusivity and creative design, making them a dream client for me. When they announced a contest to design their new summer t-shirt, I was chomping at the bit (ha!). I used their branding to create this design, along with a few color options.
While this design was ultimately not chosen, it is a great example of how I can combine my two passions in life, horses and art.

Compton Cowboys Textile Print
For this project, I was prompted to create a novelty fabric pattern inspired by a social justice issue. I had recently read the book Compton Cowboys, which details the stories of Black cowboys living in Los Angeles. The cowboys run an after-school program that helps keep Compton kids off the streets and out of the drugs and gang violence they experienced as children.
For the pattern, I illustrated photos of the cowboys from their social media and news interviews. I also drew traditional equestrian imagery combined with items from Black culture that highlights the juxtaposition between the posh horse world and rough streets of Compton.
